Melanesians are storytellers by birthright. Over 100,000 Melanesians live in so-called Australia, yet their stories are rarely heard. Join storytellers Ella Rowe (PNG), Tahlia Bowen (PNG), Koteka Wenda (West Papua) and Mereani Qalovakawasa (Fiji) for Stori: Storytelling in Melanesia, as part of the 2026 Emerging Writers' Festival. Through words, art, music and Tok Stori, hear spellbinding tales of their homelands. About The Emerging Writers' Festival (EWF) is one of Australia's most established and well-respected literary festivals. They exist to develop, nurture and promote Australia's new writing talent, creating platforms for connecting writing communities and their audiences. Through the flagship festival in Melbourne and an annual program of events, EWF provides opportunities for emerging writers to develop professionally, and supports them to engage new and larger audiences.
